Anaesthesiology
The anaesthesia and resuscitation team at the Rhéna clinic is made up of a total of 19 anaesthetist/recovery physicians. They oversee pre-operative assessments (anaesthesia consultations), anaesthesia itself, and postoperative patient care.
There are two main types of anaesthesia: general anaesthesia and loco-regional anaesthesia.
The choice of anaesthesia is determined according to several criteria: the planned procedure, the state of health of the patient, the results of any additional examinations. The final choice is made by the anaesthetist/recovery physician and explained to the patient during the anaesthesia consultation prior to hospitalisation.
Anaesthesia consultations
As part of the personalised and ongoing care plan, all surgery patients attend a pre-anaesthetic consultation. The purpose of this is to assess the risks and inform the patient about anaesthesia. This meeting is often an opportunity to look at specific explorations and/or preparation for surgery. Patients are also informed of the methods used to manage postoperative pain.
