Hospitalisation expenses

Since the 1st of September 2006, a fixed contribution of € 18 must be paid for each hospitalisation in all public and private health establishments, for procedures whose price is equal to or greater than € 120, or those with a coefficient equal to 60 . It replaces the user fees in these cases.

Since the 1st of January 2014, the hospital fee, set by ministerial order, is €18 per day.    It represents the patient’s financial contribution to the accommodation costs of hospitalisation.

This represents the portion of healthcare expenses not covered by Social Security, and is therefore to be paid by you. However, there are cases of exemption when 100% is covered by Social Security:
